Vaughn Stoman
Veterinary Surgeon
Pet: Ruby
Vaughn bought the Alderholt
practice in April 2005 from Mr John Dunton.
After qualifying in South Africa, he worked in several places in
England:the first being Wakefield, where he
got to appreciate Yorkshire and its people in their full glory.
This was followed by
work in the New Forest, doing horses and
cattle but mostly small companion animals. Although he mainly works at the Alderholt
Surgery, he also does a number of consultation sessions every week at the Three Cross branch.
He has a keen interest in dog training, which started when he was
in South Africa.
He trained mostly German Shepherds whilst living at Olderhill
Kennels, which is also involved in rescuing dogs and doing
community work in the Townships. His other interests involves music
and particularly playing the guitar.
Vaughn and his wife, Marlé, love their four (home
educated) children, ranging from 12 to 3 years old. They also have a Rottweiler,
Ruby, a tabby cat, Rebekka, two guinea pigs, Black Beauty and
Aspatat, and two chickens, tant Jakoba and Sannie.

Luisa Day
Veterinary Surgeon
Pet: Hank
Luisa qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006 and joined our practice following
a year's trip around the world with her fiance Paul. During the trip she worked in several places along the
East coast of Australia but so far her knowledge in "kangaroo-ology" has not been very useful! Thankfully,
she has continued to work with smaller animals and is now consulting at both of our branches, the majority
of her time being spent at Three Cross.
Her interests outside of work mainly involve dancing and surfing, but this list will soon include DIY
as she and Paul have just bought their first house in Christchurch.
She describes Dotty, her Abyssinian cat, as the love of her life, (but don't tell Paul!)
and the latest addition to the family, Hank, the labrador.

Helen Pilling
Veterinary Nurse
Pet: Flo
Helen qualified as a Vet Nurse in 1992 and has since
worked in various practices around the New Forest area. This
included a 5 year stint for John Dunton inbetween various travels
abroad. In 2000 she moved up country to Bath where she spent 7 years
working for Bath Veterinary Group. Again this was punctuated by
various travels.
In 2005 Helen spent three months vet nursing in
China working for the charity Animals Asia. She worked with rescued
Moon Bears at a sanctuary in Chengdu and spent much of her time in
the operating theatre and with the recovering bears. All the bears
at the sanctuary were rescued from bile farms, where they had been
reared for their bile in horrifying conditions, and understandably
this is a charity close to her heart. (Find out more at www.AnimalsAsia.org).
Helen lives with her fiance, Huley, and baby daughter, Orla, in Fordingbridge and has a Border Collie called Flo, two
beautiful cats, Sue and Dotty, and Michael and Margaret - a pair of tortoises!

Louise qualified as a vet nurse in 2006 and previously worked at a

also works at Alderholt at least once a week. Her twin sister, Stephanie, also joined us last year as a receptionist (see below).
Her rescued cat, Tigger and Daschund cross Collie, Alfie can often be spotted at
Three Cross. She has trained Alfie to do some quite impressive tricks which he is always keen to
demonstrate (for a chicken-flavoured prize!)
Louise has just made her journalistic debut with an article about a Greek Dog Shelter
where she has volunteered, making the National Veterinary Press!

Belinda Vize
Reception
Pet: Fruitcake
Belinda (Bindy)has worked in the veterinary world since
1984, joining John Dunton in 1994. She has tried to leave several
times, once to go traveling in India, Australia, New Zealand and
then Vietnam. However, the call of this friendly little practice
always brings her back! She did tried to escape again to work in a doctors'
surgery, but found that the patients were much too
compliant and she missed having to hold them down while they were
being treated! She has also done an art degree and hopes to pursue this more in the future.
Her paintings are beautiful.
She also has a counselling certificate and is always here to listen should
you feel the need to talk, especially after the loss of a
beloved pet.
Fruitcake, the Dubious Dachsie, comes to work with her everyday and
he is always happy to meet people. Precious, her cat, however says
she couldn't care less- sun-bathing and catching mice is much more her style!!

Valerie has worked at the surgery for 10 years now,
originally working for the previous vet, John Dunton, before he
retired. She came to live in Alderholt 20 years ago, having moved
from London, where, prior to having her son, Ben, she worked for the
BBC, variously as a Production Assistant, Scriptwriter and Producer
in children's radio, her claim to fame being that she was the last
Producer to work on Radio 4's Listen With Mother before its demise
in 1982.
She now lives in West Moors where she and her partner, Bob,
have a very special tabby and white cat called Polly, and two
crossbreed rescue dogs, Phoebe and Sky, with whom they enjoy walking

Stephanie Allen
Reception
Pet: Holly
Stephanie joined our team coming from a 10 year career as a qualified florist. Feeling the need for a new
challenge, she moved into the area with partner, Nathan. Her position at Three Cross Surgery sees her working with
twin sister, our nurse, Louise (see above), causing some confusion amongst customers and staff originally! Also working some days at our Alderholt branch, she enjoys
meeting all our old and new clients alike and exploring this
beautiful area with Moors Valley on her door step.
